Metsovo

Metsovo is a beautiful town within 20 minutes walking distance of Ioannina, with approximately 5000 citizens. It is famous for its wonderful cheeses (metsovone and metsovela) as well as its wines of the estate Tositsa-Averoff, the Katogi. Evangelos Averoff Gallery. The Museum of Modern Art has a permanent exhibition of representative art pieces of major Greeks artists of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Tositsa Mansion now houses the Evangelos Averoff Foundation. Local traditional textiles, garments embroidered with gold, small Byzantine artefacts and important post-Byzantine icons are displayed in the halls of the Mansion.
