The Zagorohoria (it literary translates the Zagori-villages) is a unique geographical and cultural area of 46 beautiful villages, perhaps the most famous villages of Greece, where tradition creates a sense of serenity in landscapes of unique beauty and aesthetics.
The villages are spread all around the eastern, central and western Zagori. Within walking distance from the city of Ioannina you can see the famous Vikou Gorge that is recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as the gorge with the smallest opening, its narrowest point is just 1,100 meters wide and its depth exceeds the 900 meters.
It is 12km long and 1000m high. Its measurements place it in the list of the deepest gorges of the world. Its width varies between 30 to 100 meters and its slopes are fully covered by rare flowers and herbs. The river, Voidomatis, flows through it from November to June. www.zagoroxoria.gr
